Product Manager (Contract)


Crooked Media is looking for a product manager to support our VoteSaveAmerica.com re-launch in 2019. This is a contract position through the end of the January 2020, requiring a 30-hour time commitment a week.


Day-to-day duties include:

  • Build and manage our 2020 Crooked.com and Vote Save America websites roadmap – work with the larger VSA team to set goals and track deliverables
  • Establish and manage schedules with internal and external partners (namely serving as liaison between Crooked teams and agency/developer)
  • Coordinate UI/UX wireframing
  • Work closely with design and engineering teams to coordinate and execute on design and written deliverables
  • Oversee creative review process and asset management
  • Work with internal VSA team and external partners to launch new pages and refresh content on current pages
  • Work with Crooked marketing to create, implement, analyze, and improve SEO programs to grow traffic

Candidate must have:

  • 3+ years of product management or other relevant experience
  • Strong project management and time management skills
  • Ability to be creative, strategic, analytical, and think outside the box to solve problems
  • Experience working directly with designers to design and iterate on products
  • Experience working with web developers and ability to translate creative vision to workable solution
  • Knowledge of consumer marketing analytics
  • Interest in US politics



Host – Daily News Podcast


Crooked Media is looking to launch a daily news podcast to help people start every morning with a run down of the stories that affect our lives and what each of us can do about it.

We are looking for multiple hosts to anchor the show together. The hosts of this new podcast should have great chemistry and a knack for breaking down complicated issues in a way that informs everyone from political junkies to the rest of us who can only take so much news on the way to work because we live in a political nightmare factory. The hosts will obsessively follow politics, have a critical eye for what’s important each day, and not take themselves too seriously. As with everything we do at Crooked, the goal of this show will be to inform, entertain, and inspire action.

You don’t have to have an on-air hosting background but your past work should demonstrate an ability to provide context behind major news stories, and/or a proven track record as a journalist. This is a fast-paced role and having the ability to stay calm under pressure is highly valuable, as is an ability to break down serious news without taking yourself too seriously. So, like, someone with that classic Mike Huckabee sense of humor.


Day-to-day duties include:

      • Daily editorial planning
      • Writing copy
      • Anchoring the show, possibly with a co-host
      • Shaping the voice and tone of the show

Candidate must have:

      • A passion for understanding the world around you
      • Clear communicator with strong conversational skills
      • A sense of humor
      • A team player
      • Demonstrated experience working in news or in front of a mic
      • Experience hosting or reporting under tight deadline constraints
      • Knowledge of current events, U.S. and world politics

Producer, Narrative Podcast, Michigan 


We are looking to hire a part-time Detroit-based producer who would be responsible for handling logistics and production for a new podcast. The ideal candidate must have a strong interest in news and policy, and experience booking talent and producing podcasts from soup to nuts. The candidate must work well with small groups and be flexible and hands-on throughout the production process.This project starts mid-April and will run through July.


Day-to-day duties include:

  • Guest booking
  • Studio booking
  • Produce in-studio tapings with host
  • Field reporting with host, if needed
  • Write guest briefs with researchers
  • Conduct pre-interviews with guests
  • Identify key moments from interviews
  • Support script writing
  • Assemble scratch mixes

Candidate must have:

  • 1-2 years of experience in radio or podcasting.

Sr. Producer, Current Podcasts


We are looking to hire an LA-based senior producer who would be responsible for content, logistics, and production of our current podcasts. The ideal candidate would be an established audio producer with significant experience producing and a track record of success and experience managing a team. The candidate must have a clear idea of the Crooked brand, have exceptional skills in talent management, and basic audio production knowledge.


Day-to-day duties include:

  • Supervising associate producers, talent network management and production partners
  • Managing brainstorms, booking and scheduling of panelists and co-hosts, segment construction
  • Working with Sales team to ensure necessary ads have been recorded
  • Overseeing pre-production / production schedules as well as set run of show, week- over-week, from prep to actual show
  • Liaising with producers and editors on notes and edits for final cut for podcast distribution
  • Liaising with our studio manager to book studio time based on needed locations
  • Collaborating with hosts on building episodes by providing segment ideas, creative, and technical support
  • Working with hosts and producers on arranging any necessary elements to complete episodes (i.e. research, video + visual assets)
  • Oversee and vet detailed production budgets
  • Coordinating cross-departmental efforts to build, and publicize our programming through video, social, design and marketing efforts

Candidates must have:

  • 5+ years of radio, TV or podcast production experience
  • 3+ years of managerial experience
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Understanding of journalism and journalistic ethics
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects at once

Associate Producer, News


We are looking to hire an LA-based producer who would be responsible for handling logistics and production across several of our current podcasts. The ideal candidate must have a clear idea of the Crooked brand, a strong interest in news and politics, and experience booking talent and producing podcasts from soup to nuts. The candidate must work well with small groups and be flexible and hands-on throughout the production process.

Day-to-day duties include:

  • Preparing hosts and developing briefing materials for podcasts live streams and other special events
  • Performing critical editorial functions of Crooked Media news podcasts:
    • Working with hosts and producers on arranging any necessary elements to complete episodes (i.e. research, video + visual assets)
    • Liaising with our production support to book studio time
    • Liaising with the sales team to ensure hosts have pertinent ad copy for each show
    • Liaising with the editor on notes and edits for final cut
    • Making sure social media team has everything necessary to support and promote each show
  • Booking guests for assigned podcasts
  • Participating in editorial meetings, pitching and developing ideas for shows, both for in studio and live audience programs


Candidate must have:

  • 2+ years of news, radio, TV, or podcast production

Director, Strategy and Business Development


Crooked Media is looking for a Director, Strategy and Business Development. You will help generate business opportunities by evaluating and developing meaningful relationships for the company. You will also work with senior leadership to discover, evaluate, and negotiate opportunities across departments including investments, partnerships, joint ventures, and other business development prospects, across podcasting, digital media, film, television and political partnerships. The ideal candidate has a strong background in both business development and legal affairs.

Day-to-day duties include:

  • Partner with executives and department leads to discover, qualify, and negotiate potential opportunities across the company (Advertising, touring, talent, TV&Film, distribution).
  • Analyze and quantify growth strategy and new business development opportunities for Crooked Media.
  • Protect and support the integrity of Crooked Media IP in the drafting and development of production, talent, distribution, advertising, and other strategic agreements
  • Drive evaluation, articulation and presentation of Crooked Media’s key strategic initiatives for executives.
  • Assist in due diligence efforts and analysis for potential opportunities
  • Analyze industry trends, competitive landscape, growth opportunities and internal performance.
  • Work effectively in a team environment, with different stakeholders including content team, finance and legal
  • Execute special projects on behalf of business units, including film, TV, digital and social action teams.
  • Other duties / special projects as assigned.


Candidate must have:

  • B.A. required, M.B.A. a plus.
  • 4-6 years of experience in a prior business development role
  • Previous experience with podcasting, talent, production studios, advertising, distribution and/or tv development
  • Strong knowledge of IP law and an understanding of various entertainment contracts and  deal structures (e.g., option agreements, talent agreements, insertion orders)
  • Superior analytical skills and financial modeling capabilities.
  • Experience or interest in the media, digital and/or tech industries.

Manager, Human Resources


Crooked Media is looking for a Human Resources Manager. You will be responsible for building HR processes for both generalist and business partner support functions. The ideal candidate has worked in a digital media company or for a quickly growing startup environment. You can continue to foster Crooked’s kind, smart and creative culture, but you are also confident and comfortable managing difficult conversations.

Day-to-day duties include:

  • Manage payroll, benefits, and compliance
  • Work with current staff to co-manage the onboarding process, new hire experience, and company culture
  • Maintain and update the employee handbook to stay current with new employment laws and address any new company policies
  • Work closely with executives and finance on organizational design and job architecture
  • Create a performance review process and manage employee relations
  • Serve as the key HR business partner for all departments
  • Design business and employee initiatives that support our short and long-term business goals, including driving practices that enable high performance and operational excellence

Social Media Manager


Crooked is looking for a Social Media Manager who will oversee and implement growth strategies on all social media channels (YT, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and others TBD). Manager will report to the Digital Content Director. Candidates must have experience building and distributing social content and developing audiences for brands or individuals.

Day-to-day duties include:

  • Determine KPI’s for social channels and create clear paths to metrics goals
  • Develop a social media roadmap for Crooked that defines voice and guidelines; own all social media channels, handling everything from strategy to execution, analysis and reporting
  • Establish the distribution strategy for all self-published video, image-based, and editorial content on Crooked’s social media channels
  • Suggest and supervise repackaging of content assets to tailor to specific platforms
  • Ensure that Crooked branding standards and messaging are maintained across all platforms
  • Ensure that Crooked’s branding standards, messaging, and style guides are maintained
  • Project manage social content production by developing a Crooked social programming strategy and calendar; write and/or produce formats (ie. short form weekly social series)
  • Publish and manage daily social posts
  • Craft original and compelling initiatives to increase audience and engagement on channels and supervise the implementation of these initiatives
  • Apply creative thinking to the analysis of content trends and breaking news, events, etc – and how they can be utilized in Crooked’s social distribution strategy
  • Work with internal teams across Content and Design, to plan and publish the mix of original content and promotional content for Crooked brands

Candidate must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 3-5 Years experience in Social Media and Audience Development
  • Must be extremely organized with a passion for process, procedures and structure
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; articulate and well spoken
  • Social Media expertise – including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter
  • Strong computer skills in Keynote, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps eg Drive, Docs, etc. with working knowledge of Dropbox, Basecamp and other communication tools and the ability to learn new software quickly
  • Must be dynamic and proactive, take initiative, be a team player
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure, flexible and adaptable to change
  • Detail oriented, ability to multi-task by prioritizing and executing concurrent activities.
