Booking Producer, News & Entertainment

Crooked Media is looking for an experienced Booking Producer to join our News and Entertainment team, based in Los Angeles. The ideal candidate would be tasked with finding the best guest for a variety of Crooked podcasts, from Presidential candidates to comedians … and sometimes both. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Researching and booking a wide variety of notable experts, celebrities, and political figures for various shows on the Crooked platform..
  • Conducting pre-interviews, coordinating with show producers and booking studio time 
  • Liaise between shows and booking agencies, PR reps, agents and managers
  • Maintain and build guest database
  • Occasionally secure facilities for remote interviews
  • Brainstorm, source and pitch story ideas
  • Write introductions and prep questions for potential guests 

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 3-5 years booking experience in either entertainment or journalism, including researching information and tracking down guests
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Superior written and verbal communication skill
  • Strong time management skills and multitasking abilities
  • Strong relationship-building skills 
  • Well-organized, efficient, detail-oriented self-starter, and able to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Docs

Marketing Coordinator

Crooked Media is hiring a rockstar Marketing Coordinator to join the team to bring marketing campaigns to life across political, content and brand priorities. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the intersection of politics, pop culture and media and eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. This role reports to the Director of Marketing in our Los Angeles HQ.

Day-to-day duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manage promotional and marketing calendars, working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that activities are being executed consistently across content, political and brand initiatives
  • Research, identify and present opportunities to grow audience and awareness for company wide priorities s
  • Work with content and social teams to package promotional assets for hosts & guests for content, live events and commerce
  • Update, maintain and organize assets, information, files and materials and coordinate to ensuring that collateral is up to date and that all teams are briefed on changes
  • Build & circulate recaps and reports to management, hosts and partners both internal and external
  • Maintain, manage and track influencer lists for merch and company calls to action—ensuring partners are receiving information and product in a clear and efficient manner
  • Work with Crooked live event partners and venues to ensure tracking towards ticket sales, communicating proactively with internal teams to bring all promotional efforts to life
  • Maintain launch timelines, keeping up with all of the due dates, and updating to make sure they work with the different teams
  • Work with podcast platform partners like Apple Podcasts, Spotify to ensure we are optimizing content marketing across all channels
  • Research new marketing and promotional opportunities and present to Marketing leadership regularly, identifying dynamic ways for Crooked to connect with new & existing audiences 
  • Help plan, execute and coordinate experiential activations as needed
  • Assist marketing team with scheduling and planning of internal and external meetings

Candidate qualifications:

  • 2-5 years’ experience on a marketing team—content, media or commerce background preferred
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Highly familiar with Google Drive (including Sheets, Slides and more) and Microsoft Office
  • Comfort using and/or learning reporting tools like Google Analytics, Shopify, Sprout Social, Mailchimp, Megaphone & Cadence13 a plus!

Director of Digital Content

So we’re looking to get into the meme game. If you think that’s not a fully fleshed out digital strategy, then we need to hire you because that’s as far as we’ve gotten. 2020 is an incredibly important year, so Crooked Media is looking for a Director of Digital Content to implement a political and marketing social media strategy that generates shareable content, grows our audience, and make us seem as cool as @Wendys. This is a senior role that reports to the Chief Content Officer and will run a small team of social media associates. The position is based in Los Angeles. 

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a social media strategy to grow audience and build brand awareness among new audience
  • Establish and build a distinct brand voice for news, politics, and marketing across all social platforms 
  • Oversee team of social media associates to execute strategy on both original and promotional social content as well as community development
  • Develop and set annual social growth KPIs (engagement, followers, etc) 
  • Research and integrate social media trends to maintain relevance of Crooked Media social brands 
  • Work with Crooked content teams to build and oversee a social programming calendar 
  • Implement a content editorial calendar to manage content and plan specific, timely digital campaigns 
  • Analyze social audience metrics and make recommendations to boost visibility and engagement.
  • Develop and maintain online Crooked community across multiple social platforms 
  • Identify and execute on organic and/or rapid response social opportunities to build brand awareness and credibility 
  • Monitor SEO and user engagement and suggest content optimization

Social Media Associate, News & Politics

Crooked Media’s Good Idea #1: Twitter arguments are always worth it. 

See? This is why we need you. Crooked is looking for a Social Media Associate who can run our news and politics coverage, help implement growth strategies on all social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and others TBD), and tell us when our good ideas are bad ideas. Associate will report to the Director of Social Content and will calmly be able to answer when someone old yells, “WHERE DO I TIKTOK?” Candidates must have experience building and distributing social content and developing audiences for brands or individuals.   

Responsibilities:

  • Create and post social content for Pod Save America, Crooked Media, and Vote Save America social accounts 
  • Monitor and respond to daily news and political cycle in the Crooked voice 
  • Help develop Crooked-branded graphic and video content to drive engagement 
  • Help set and hit social growth KPIs (engagement, followers, etc) 
  • Post content following Crooked’s news and politics programming schedule 
  • Manage a dashboard of daily activity 
  • Monitor the community to identify, document, and respond to trends
  • Compare and report interesting case studies from comparable brands to share insights and examples 
  • Work with the design, video, and political teams to oversee the creation and posting of content on social accounts (photos, graphics, gifs, data visualizations, short videos, etc)

E-Commerce Manager

Crooked Media is growing its e-commerce business (crooked.com/store) and we need to find a dynamic digital marketer & merchandiser who loves data, wearing (and selling) cool merch, and testing new ways to engage the Crooked audience through direct-to-consumer channels. The E-Commerce Manager will also be responsible for managing and growing Crooked’s audience and relationships across email and customer database. This role reports to the Director of Marketing in our Los Angeles HQ.

Day-to-day duties include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee e-commerce merchandising & marketing strategy to drive sales, meet revenue targets, and activate our highly engaged audience
  • Manage and execute monthly e-commerce calendar—both product & marketing
  • Manage store budget and relationships with key vendors, partners, and resources
  • Set and achieve growth targets for customer & subscriber acquisition/retention for e- commerce & content offerings
  • Lead marketing calendar for Crooked’s store – including but not limited to email, social media, house-advertising, search, influencer, paid, brand, and experiential to identify, build, implement, and measure marketing strategies
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on the content, political, and design teams to develop products and bring to market 
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on trends, sales, transaction data, and customer feedback to identify areas of opportunity
  • Ensure the store is current with product content, descriptions, imagery, and inventory, ensuring stakeholder buy-in and approval on all elements
  • Keep abreast of industry news, technologies, trends and opportunities, piloting and implementing emerging technologies for eCommerce.
  • Create and maintain key digital metric reports and dashboards for traffic, acquisition, conversion, spend and revenue forecasts
  • Maintain a passion for the brand and the continual improvement of the customer experience through insights, trends and evolution
  • Ensure continuity between digital marketing, merchandising, community outreach, and advertising programs

Candidate qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related business discipline; with 5+ years of experience 
  • Strong vendor relations, project management, communication and analytical skills

Graphic Designer, Freelance

Crooked’s design team is growing and we need a talented freelance designer to create compelling visuals to help us win in 2020. We’re looking for a design generalist that enjoys working on a range of project types.

Day-to-day duties include but are not limited to:
• Work with Crooked’s design team across a variety of projects
• Design social assets to support our podcasts and brands
• Work with Crooked’s political team to create social and marketing assets based on our political calls to action
• Support senior staff in developing new brands
• Help create physical props and material for video
• Develop presentations and sales collateral
• Create merchandise for the Crooked Store

Candidate qualifications:
• 3-6 years of professional design experience
• An eye for composition, the ability to use type, great taste and an awareness of trends and styles
• The ability to visualize data / work with infographics
• A passion for politics and the ability to translate the news into visuals
• An interest in social media
• Able to use the Adobe Creative suite at a professional level
• Motion graphic and video editing skills are a plus

Managing Producer, Narrative

We’re looking for an experienced producer to join our development and production team, based in Los Angeles. This is an extremely varied role that will be tasked to help create new concepts, new formats and bring new voices to audio.

The Managing Producer, Narrative must be comfortable working on a wide variety of shows – from daily production to narrative documentary – and must switch between show formats with comfort and excitement. You’ll be involved in writing, editing and mixing and be trusted to listen for qualities that will captivate listeners.

Day-to-day duties include:

  • Brainstorm, research and shape concepts for new shows along with evaluating shows that are being pitched
  • Oversee Crooked communication with each project’s teams including hosts, production staff and researchers throughout development process
  • Oversee production calendar and budgets on behalf of Crooked, serve as connective tissue between Crooked and each shows production on all assigned shows
  • Provide timely and in depth edits on scripts and mixes on story structure, assist in writing when necessary
  • Plan field producing and reporting trips in collaboration with producers
  • Find, pre-interview, and book guests
  • Oversee the arranging for studio recordings and tape syncs and work with the finance team on budgets.

Candidate qualifications:

  • A minimum of four years of experience producing audio for radio or podcast
  • A journalism background
  • An ability to listen to raw tape, and identify the perfect details, the need-to-know plot points, and the need-to-hear moments that make a story
  • Experience scripting 15-20 minute audio stories
  • Proficiency in field recording
  • Proficiency in creating assemblies in ProTools
  • An eye for detail and self-direction
