FILEFIGHTERS
The Epstein files continue to haunt Donald Trump. It’ll get even worse for him if Democrats win the House. Here come the subpoenas!
- Has Donald Trump finally met the scandal he can’t shake? For nearly a week, the White House has angrily resisted calls from MAGAworld, Democratic lawmakers, and even House Speaker Mike Johnson to release the mysterious files about financier Jeffrey Epstein, the child sex predator who died in jail. The million-dollar question: Is Trump — who partied with Epstein at Mar-a-Lago — in the files? Mick Mulvaney, Trump’s own former chief of staff, thinks so!
- It’s not just palace intrigue. Americans want answers: 7 in 10 Americans believe the Trump administration is covering up information about Epstein, according to a new poll. Only six percent of people disagree.
- The president’s attempts to turn people away from Epstein are angering his base and bolstering suspicions that he’s got something to hide. Trump now claims the whole thing is a “hoax” perpetuated by his Democratic opponents, which is “pretty boring” anyway. He won’t appoint a special prosecutor to investigate, the White House said today, despite calls from MAGA Godfather Steve Bannon and far-right lunatic Laura Loomer to do exactly that. Loomer is warning this scandal could “consume his presidency.” Oh no!
- “They clearly don’t want to put out more information … or there’s no more information to put out,” Crooked’s own Jon Favreau told the Flagrant podcast. “All they can do is tell people to move on, shut the fuck up, and get back on board.”
If House Democrats win power next year, they’ll use it to pressure Trump’s officials to explain the Epstein debacle, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) exclusively told What A Day.
- Raskin, the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, has already called on Chair Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) to subpoena Trump’s top officials to testify about the Epstein files. Jordan, of course, would never dare to defy Trump. But if Democrats win the House next year — which they’re widely expected to — Raskin says he’s prepared to play hardball.
- “Let’s demand the files. Let’s open the files up. Let’s open the tapes up. Let’s open the photographs up, the videos, everything that they’ve got,” Raskin told What A Day. “Let the truth be known. Let the chips fall where they may. That would be my approach.”
- Some hardcore MAGA faithful are flipping out. “We’re gonna look back at the MAGA movement as the biggest scam in American history. And the liberals were right … We will see Trump as a scam artist,” said far-right influencer Nick Fuentes, the antisemite who famously dined with the president.
- Raskin described the MAGAworld fury as an awakening: “In all the documentaries about cults, there’s a moment where someone wakes up and realizes that their savior is a false prophet, and then they begin to question everything they’ve been saying and everything that they’ve been doing,” he said.
“Will there be a return to reason and reality-based politics, as opposed to just wild conspiracy theories?” Raskin asked, rhetorically. I hope so!
BOVE ISLAND
Donald Trump is about to turn one of his most craven former criminal defense attorneys into a powerful judge. The move sets a dangerous precedent for the entire judicial system.
That lawyer, Emil Bove, is basically Stephen Miller with a law degree — a hardcore MAGA disciple with little regard for the system and a record of taking the low road to reach Trump’s goals. Bove is now on track, pending a vote in the GOP-controlled Senate, to become a federal appeals court judge for the rest of his life… and he’s only 44 years old.
“I am not anybody’s henchman,” Bove insisted to the Senate Judiciary Committee last month… which is exactly what you say when you are definitely, absolutely NOT a henchman! (Editor’s note: He’s a total henchman.) Republicans lawmakers advanced his nomination to a final vote, anyway.
“Emil Bove is an utterly appalling selection for the federal bench,” Rep. Raskin told What A Day. “He is a complete flack and sycophant underling and Trump fetching boy.”
Democrats
stormed out of Bove’s hearing today, accusing their GOP counterparts of ramming the nomination through. Democrats aren’t the only ones ringing the alarm about Bove: More than
900 former DOJ attorneys urged the Senate to reject Bove’s nomination, as well as more than
75 former judges. Bottom line: This dude might be an even crazier pick than Pete Hegseth was for defense secretary! Although at least he doesn’t get control of any missiles with this job.
Sadly, as the Trump era has taught all of us, over and over again, this situation could still get worse.
“He could very easily get up on the Supreme Court,” Raskin warned. “He’s one level down, and he’s on the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. He will be casting critical votes on that whole part of the country.”
Amid the Bove chaos, Senate Republicans also advanced former Fox News commentator Jeanne Pirro’s bid to be the U.S. attorney in Washington, D.C. What a day indeed…

Doctors diagnosed Donald Trump with chronic venous insufficiency, aka swelling in his lower legs, according to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. It’s a “benign and common condition, particularly in individuals over the age of 70,” she added. Oh, and that weird makeup spot on Trump’s hand? She said it was caused by handshaking and taking aspirin. So the old fella’s in tip-top shape, huh?
Sure, Jan.
On that note, Trump’s immigration agenda is the most unpopular it has been since the start of his second term, according to a new Reuters poll. Only 41 percent of Americans support his radical policies, driven by ICE’s inhumane raids and seemingly random arrests. One recent example: A U.S. citizen and Army veteran
said that agents broke his car window, sprayed him with tear gas, and detained him for three days with no explanation. WTF!
An Israeli airstrike hit the only Catholic church in the Gaza Strip today, killing three people and wounding 10 others sheltering there — including Rev. Gabriel Romanelli, a parish priest who was close with the late Pope Francis. The church became well-known after word got out that Francis used to call Romanelli every night. Israel offered a rare apology for the attack.
Trump wants to bring back Coca-Cola that’s made with real sugar, and corn groups are
not all ears. “Replacing high fructose corn syrup with cane sugar would cost thousands of American food manufacturing jobs, depress farm income, and boost imports of foreign sugar, all with no nutritional benefit,” the Corn Refiners Association’s president warned in a statement. Personally, I am so down to

Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company launched an AI-girlfriend chatbot through its Grok app, which the App Store lists as available to 12-year-olds — even though the bot regularly initiates sexual conversation and is programmed to “go full literotica.” The blonde, gothic avatar can also spin around and dance on command. Are you surprised at all that Elon would do this? I’m not.
