(John Delaney dropped out of the race on 1/31/20) John Delaney served in the House of Representatives for Maryland's 6th congressional district from 2013-2019. He was the first of all the Democratic candidates to announce his presidential bid back in July 2017. Early bird gets the debate threshold. Before his time in the House, Delaney co-founded two publicly traded companies: Health Care Financial Partners, which made loans available to small health care service providers, and CapitalSource, which provided loans to small and mid-sized companies and focused on investing in low-income and economically distressed communities.
